4 Tips to Create a More Effective E-mail
In today’s quick tip episode I want to give you 4 tips that if used will dramatically improve your emails. When I say improve your e-mails I mean improve your open rates, click throughs and get people to look forward to getting your emails not get e-mail burnout because you send the same e-mail over and over again pushing your product every time.
Every ones says “the money is in the list” and this is true, but if you’re creating emails that are not relevant to your customers I don’t care how many people you get on your list it wont make you any more money and will could even be costing you money.
You want your customers to get your e-mail and look forward to reading it. When they see your e-mail they should want to open it just to see what you wrote this time.
Ask yourself this quick question ans be honest with yourself, would you look forward to reading your emails you have been sending out? Is it something that you would open and read every single time and look forward to them? If you answered yes and honestly yes! not kinda or I think so but hell yes! If you did please e-mail me immediately, I want to work with you.
But… on the other hand
If you didn’t say hell yes! This will help you get to that point.
OK the 4 tips are the following.
I’ll go over each one of these in detail.
#1 Attention: This is the most important one out of all of them because without attention you have no one opening your email and having a chance to see what’s inside.
You need to get there attention and how you do this is with writing a great eye catching headline. Headlines get people to take the next step, which is to open and read your e-mail. Take a moment and think about what emails you open, what got you to take that the step and clicking the link to open the email and wanting to read what was inside? I’ll bet it was a great headline.
To get better at creating great headlines write 10-12 of them for every email you want to send, this will get the creative juices flowing and by the time you get to 8,9 or 10 you will have a great attention grabbing headline.
#2 Interest: Now that you got them to open your email you only have the first few lines to make it interesting enough to them or they will just close and delete. Don’t make this where you say “here are my specials” Boring, DELETE! .
Make it an interesting beginning to a conversation you want to have with them.
- Why should they keep reading, whats in it for them
- Make it funny
- Tell a quick story about something that happened to you
#3 Desire: This is where you start selling your product. Tell them the benefits to using your item. Explain how they will feel after taking you up on your offer. It’s about them not you.
- Dinner with no clean up
- Healthy option and delivered to your door
- Simple dinner idea everyone can agree on
#4 Action: You have to clearly spell out what you want them to do. Make it short and to the point and add a sense of urgency so they feel like they have something to loose if they don’t take action.
- Only a few left!
- Reserve now before we run out!
- Order now to secure your spot!
- Order now get it delivered later!
Summing up, your customers value there time more than anything, don’t waste it on boring lame emails that bring no value to them and are only selling them your stuff and talking about how great it is. Make it about them and make it short and sweet.
