Growing Your E-mail List
Your e-mail is the most important part of your marketing and getting people to sign up just got easier! If you have a crappy designed widget that says “get updates” on your website or even worse, (it does get worse than that) nothing at all to collect e-mails from your customers, then this post is definitely for you.
Your e-mail list should be the biggest priority for you in communicating and selling your product to your customers.
Leadpages is an easy to use tool to help you make your own custom lead capture pages that you drive traffic to with all your marketing to collect e-mals from your customer. So how does it work and whats the first step?
Step #1: Sign up for leadpages
Head over to Leadpages.net and sign up for an account. You can start with the base account for $37/ month but this will allow you to ramp up your email opt -ins so it’s money well spent. This is the best and easiest way that you will be able to grow your list and as they say “the money is in the list”.
Step #2: Create An Offer:
Create an offer that will make it a “no brainier” for your audience. Your offer has to be so good and relevant (to them not you) that when your customers see what it is that you’re offering, they wouldn’t think twice about submitting their e-mail to receive. You really have to think of it in a different way.
If you could know ahead of time that a new or existing customer walking in your front door would come back time and time again and all you had to do was give them one free pizza, would you do that?
Of course you would!
So give away something bigger than you normally would… think outside the box and ask what is your best item and give that away. With their e-mail address, you are going to be able to contact the customer exactly when you want in the future and communicate easier and much more efficiently.
Step #3: Choose a Template
Choose one of the free templates or if you don’t mind spending a few extra dollars (usually $10-$15) you can pick a template from the marketplace.
I would suggest you just start with a free template until you get use to creating pages and how everything works. If it’s working well for you (and it should if your doing it right), then you can purchase a more custom template for all your offers.
Step #4: Customize your offer
Upload your own photos that you have taken of your product and create an offer that your customers are gonna love. Make certain to check your “sales copy” (the wording you use) so that it makes the customer want to opt -in. Be sure to avoid sounding too sales-y.
If you choose the right offer though this will not matter too much…the offer will speak for itself. You should also choose an offer that will actually benefit them and not just something to get them on your list.
You do not want the regret after they opt -in and then immediately unsubscribing.. choose something that makes them feel good and look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
Step #5 Add your Integration
This is where you add your email subscription service to your offer. With this service, when your customers ask to receive your offer, they will automatically be added to your e-mail list.
You will have to add your list id from your subscriber to your account, then you will be able to select the particular list you want this offer to go to.
You should also create a thank you page. This is the page that your subscribers will see after they have confirmed the subscription.
Here are a few examples of some great ones…
Step #6 Add Leadpages to your website
Once you have created and saved your lead page, you will then have to publish it. If you are using wordpress for your website, this is super easy to do yourself tool.
Go to your admin page on wordpress, upload the leadpages plugin and activate. After you activate you can then go to the lead pages on the dashboard and select the lead page you want to display.
Select the page you have created previously and create a name for example (www.smartpizzamarketing.com/6tips)
Step #7: Publish and grow your e-mail list
After you have selected the page and the name simply hit the publish button. Your page should now be “live” and you can start sending people to it and start your follow up process.
After you hit publish, go over to your page and make sure everything looks exactly the way you want it to before you start marketing this to your customers.
Be sure to add your own email into the list to be able to test everything is working properly with your follow up.
Step #8: Create your follow up
For your follow up, remember your customers want helpful information. They don’t want to hear about how great you are (Although I know your awesome..) because it will make your customer unsubscribe if that’s all you constantly tell them.
Make it a way to start a conversation with you. Use a content calender and plan out your year of marketing and updates of what is going on with your business for each month. Use this as a way to think about your content that and create it before you need it and it will be ready to send out when needed.
