My Two Cents On Instagram Stories
I’ve heard mixed feelings about Instagram stories in the short few days since it’s been released. If you’re not familiar, Instagram Stories is a Snapchat like update that allows you to add updates along the day to your Instagram feed. Let’s face it, they pretty much stole the best basic features from Snapchat and added it to Instagram.
This is good for anyone who has tried but felt a little confused or overwhelmed trying to figure out how to use Snapchat. Which is something I’ve heard from quite a few people.
I think there are some unique plays here for restaurants and pizzerias to reach a different and larger demographic with a “not so polished” approach that Instagram is known for.
Snapchat has always confused many older users with its interface and this update allows you to engage with the best features of Snapchat on a platform that is easier and more familiar to any people.
Let’s get into a few pros and cons…
-Instagram already has a larger audience and with the older demographic, it’s a much better place for restaurants to reach there target audience.
-If you already have a large or growing following on Instagram it’s much easier for your audience to find you and view your stories.
-It’s less confusing and much easier to use which will allow you to go right into and start creating some great content.
-It’s updated automatically and if you’re following a lot of people you suddenly have many stories on the top of your feed that you didn’t necessarily ask for.
-It may clutter the feed with not so great content and until now Instagram was always perceived as the place to share really high-quality photos or videos. It will be interesting to see how that plays out with this update.
I always think that when there is a new app or update you should try it out and see how it can work for your business. Take a few days this week to interact better with your audience to get them to know, like and trust you a little deeper.
